Sister sizing

DIFFERENT SIZE THAN WHAT YOU EXPECTED? LEARN MORE ABOUT SISTER SIZING.

WHAT IS SISTER SIZING?

Every bra size has a ‘sister size.’ It’s the family of alternate sizes that share cup volume, but have different band circumferences. Think about it this way: when you go up or down in band size, it adjusts the length of the underwire and your cup size. Knowing your sister size will help you find the best-feeling fit in every style.

WHEN SHOULD I USE MY SISTER SIZE?

Sometimes the perfect fit doesn’t translate to the same size across multiple bra styles. For example, if your cups fit comfortably but your band feels too tight or loose – that’s where sister sizing comes in.

HOW DOES SISTER SIZING WORK?

When the band size goes up, the cup size goes down – and vice versa. If you’re a 36C, you might also like the fit of a 38B or a 34D, depending on the style and your preference.

Follow our sister sizing chart below to find your alternative size. Still have questions? Talk to our Fit Therapists.

How does the perfect fit feel?

Follow our fit check-in once you’re in your new bra.

IF YOUR BRA IS SNUG TO START, DON’T WORRY.

At first, your CUUP bra should fit more snugly in the band than you might expect. If it’s too loose, you won’t get the support you need. Keep in mind that Mesh styles wear differently over time than Satin and Micro styles.

Fit Tip: Our Fit Therapists recommend wearing your Mesh bras (the Balconette, the Plunge & the Demi) at home for the day to give your band time to adjust to your form. If the fit isn’t right after that, you can reach out to start an exchange.

WHY YOU SHOULD START ON THE LOOSEST HOOK.

Your band will grow looser over time, so make sure you start with a snug fit on the loosest hook – you can dial in as it stretches out.

HOW TO MAKE SURE YOUR CUPS FIT.

Some of our styles can create a natural swell effect at first, which will go away as the cups form to your body. But if the top seams of your bra’s cups are creating an indent that can be seen through a shirt, you may need a larger cup size.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BAND > STRAPS.

The band is the anchor of the bra’s support system and should provide most of the support. The straps are used to adjust for natural discrepancies in the size and shape of your two sister boobs.

HOW TO ADJUST ACCORDINGLY.

Even once you’re in the perfect size, your boobs might need a little adjustment. Always make sure your breast tissue is sitting within the wires – no poking, pinching or pulling.

Virtual Fittings faQs

Do I need to be Naked?

Nope! You can keep your t-shirt on, if that's more comfortable than measuring in your bra.

Who am I talking to?

Someone from our team of expert Fit Therapists. They’ll be there to help guide you through the process of finding your perfect fit and the best silhouettes for you.

Is it secure?

We get it – underwear and the internet don’t traditionally go hand-in-hand. Our sessions are 100% secure, our team is highly-trained, and your privacy is our top priority.

What do I need?

A soft measuring tape & non-padded bra. A bralette works, too, but no constrictive sports bras, please!

Where should I call from?

A private space! You don’t have to get naked, but it’s nice to have the privacy to ask your most intimate boob questions.

What happens next?

We'll send an email recap with your measurements, CUUP size and recommended silhouettes.

What if I ordered the wrong size or have more questions?

We’re here to help. We also offer virtual exchange fittings, where you can talk to a Fit Therapist about your recent purchase to make sure you’re in the right size and learn more about the bra & swim top styles that are best for you.

Are there fittings for CUUP Swim?

Yes! You can schedule a virtual swim fitting to discuss our CUUP Swim sizing system and how it applies across styles.
